On Friday, I had a dream. I was in one of those TV singing talent programs. It was show night, and the organizers had forgotten to select a song for me to perform. A stagehand selected an easy song for me to learn quickly before the show ended. I asked the lady to put the song on an iPod for me to listen to over and over so I could learn it quickly.
I listened to it many times in the dream, and the chorus was stuck in my head when I woke up. As I was getting ready in the bathroom, I found myself humming the song. I realized that if it is catchy enough for me to remember from a dream, then maybe I should go and write it. So that is what I did!
I had the chorus already from the dream, and 20 mins later, I had a song. I polished it over the next couple of days. I’m very happy with it. It is also the first song I wrote on my new Guitalele.
I plan to play it at my next open mic gig next Sunday. So the performance will be available on Substack soon too!
I hope you enjoy the song titled Just For You. It is about waiting for someone you love to come home when they are on a mission elsewhere.
