Another Wednesday, another song! :)
Over Christmas, I rewrote the chords and tightened up the structure of this song. This open mic was the first time I ever performed this song.
I wrote Time To Go Away after I left my husband of over 20 years. At the time, it had been eight years since I wrote a song, as there wasn’t much space for my music in that relationship. So making this step was the beginning of my reconnection with music and myself again.
I shared it with a few people and got a great response, which was the encouragement I needed to keep going.
Back then, I was trying to force myself to play bar chords, and it originally used F#m, so when I returned to my usual pattern of not using bar chords, I put this song on the shelf. It was great to reclaim this song, as it has a lot of meaning for me.
