Blog Update
As I am coming up on a year since I started on the open mic scene, I recently re-evaluated my plans for this blog at Substack.
When I started to use this space for my music last year, the idea was to provide early access insights into what I’m creating and any major music-related events and news.
Since I have seen how things work in my local musical community, most people are on Instagram, Facebook, SoundCloud, and streaming platforms, if applicable.
I’m also performing at many more open mics since the end of May when I returned from the UK. So I’ve found myself with a backlog of videos and little time to edit them in the way I have been doing until now.
So I’ve decided to improve the quality of my mobile recording equipment and post my performances as clips on Instagram and full sets on Facebook.
If I can do all the video editing on my phone, this will save me a ton of time in the process. So I will no longer post my full video performances here on Substack. You now need to follow me on Facebook to see them.
However, as a way of replacement, I am looking at finding a way to archive my lyrics and offer them early access when I write new songs. More news on this soon.
I have updated my Substack About page with the latest perks you will now get as a free or paid subscriber.
Summer Plans
As I will not always have something to post each week because of the removal of the performance videos, I’m going to take a couple of “slow” weeks because I want to get a couple of modules of my Home Recording Academy course done so I can set up my recording space soon.
As you may know, this online course got put on hold due to a bereavement. However, I’m at the stage where I want to set up the recording space so I can use it. So I decided to work through the first two modules of my course, which cover all of this. I may not post much for the next couple of weeks. However, I’ll still be on social media.
I’m also hosting a party in August, so I want to get my recording space done before I need to focus my full attention on that.
I have written a couple of songs since the Belonged demo was released. I wanted to hold off on recording these because I was waiting for my new Røde VideoMic Me external iPhone mic and Dunlop Max-Grip 0.6mm guitar picks to arrive. Now that they have, I will work on those demos around my course and open mics as soon as I can.
