Experience
I started writing journals when I was nine years old, so as of 2026, I have been writing in one form or another for over 38 years.
When I started secondary school at 11, I had to start writing essays, poems, and short stories. It was always something I poured into more than was expected by my teachers, and even begrudgingly surprised a few of them along the way.
At fourteen, I began songwriting (both lyrics and rhythm guitar), and over four years, I wrote 48 songs (about one song per month).
In 2000, I began writing novels. Between then and 2013, I wrote two unpublished novels as part of a 6 book series. (Unfortunately, when I chose to start my life over again in 2020, I lost access to all the backup sites of my latest book drafts, and I had to let the novels go. It was a small price to pay to reclaim my life.)
From 2006, I felt it was time to start daring to write publicly. I began to blog inspirational posts and write technical articles for other websites or columns. This is when I became a professional writer, as I started to get paid for my work.
In 2013, I took a break from novel writing to work on a speculative fiction anthology for three years, which included three of my short stories (one of which I intend to republish soon).
Not only was I a writer for the anthology, but I was also the social media manager, livestream host, one of the proofreaders, and heavily involved in the publishing. I was at the center of the whole creative side of the project and managed the volunteer team of proofreaders, editors, typesetters, and artists that made it all happen.
Unfortunately, the studio that published the anthology went out of business, and the owner died. The books remain in a kind of weird limbo online (which is why I choose not to promote them, as the money can no longer reach the creatives involved).
In 2016, when the anthology concluded, I continued blogging about spirituality.
Between 2018 and 2022, I was a full-time technical writer at two different large IT companies in Copenhagen. This became a bridge between my 22-year IT career as a web developer and my side writing gigs.
In 2020, I began writing under my name, Thea Stone. I was starting my life over, and I felt I needed a new online presence to match that.
First, I began writing for Medium, but after a while I felt like it wasn’t the right platform for me. That’s when I moved to Substack. My writing took many different forms here, so my Substack got rebranded several times (which is why much of that content is no longer visible). This spanned inspirational and spiritual articles, dance, music, tarot, and now The Pilgrim’s Path.
I also began writing songs again at the same time, but in 2022, my songwriting took off to a level that matched what I achieved as a teenager. I had started performing in Copenhagen, and that, combined with the therapeutic need to process life, sparked another round of intense songwriting, during which I wrote about 75 songs.
In 2025, I picked up my love of journalling again, which I have done on and off throughout my life. I write regularly in the mornings, recording contemplations, experiences, and dreams.
